University 101

I am Sophie Keyes, or as some like to call me Sophie Keyes to Your Heart. I am an 18 year old beauty queen who has believed she was a princess since she was four years old. (Hey, it could happen. I have dual citizenship of Europe, so when the royal baby is looking for a wife, I'll be first in line!) I am from a small town where big dreams almost seem impossible to reach called Clinton, South Carolina. Despite being raised in a small town, I have big city aspirations. So many people are afraid to speak up and let their voices be heard, but I know I was given a voice for a reason. That's why I want to be a Broadcast Journalist. I want to become a voice for the people of our world to relate to, and most importantly, I want to be trusted by those who will be listening to the news every morning. I have always been a performer and when I realized that I needed a backup plan to being a princess, delivering the news was a close second. I have a passion for people and their stories. USC is the perfect school for me. The Broadcast Journalism program is a dream come true, and I know so many wonderful opportunities will open up for me while I am making my way into the news world. I hope to gain so much from U101, like an understanding of the diverse students in the classroom. With everyone in the class having an interest in journalism, I think this U101 class can do nothing but prepare me for the future.
